Your Generosity Is Helping Truth Take Root at Camp!

Smiles abound at Hope Reins during summer camp!

For three weeks in July, your generosity allows us to welcome children for mornings filled with horses, friendship, laughter, and the love of Jesus.

This year’s theme is Fully Known, Deeply Loved. Each day centers on a truth from Scripture about who our children are in Christ: Seen. Loved. Chosen. Safe. A Child of God.

These truths are woven throughout each Bible story, horse activity, game, craft, and conversation. Because repetition is a powerful way to learn—especially when a child is beginning to believe something new about themselves.

On the day devoted to the truth of being Seen, campers learned about Zacchaeus, a tax collector who climbed a tree to see Jesus (Luke 19). When Jesus passed by, he stopped, looked up, and saw Zacchaeus…really saw him and even invited him to spend time together.

Don’t we all want to be loved this way—fully seen, fully known and still loved?

Many children who come to Hope Reins know what it feels like to be overlooked, unprotected, or unloved. Some have even learned to make themselves unseen in order to stay safe.

Just as Zacchaeus waited in a tree to be seen by Jesus, on this morning, campers sat on a barrel waiting to be noticed by the horse walking by.

As the children waited for the horse to approach them, they identified and drew the emotions they felt.

What does it feel like to wait to be seen?

Frustrated. Sad. Mad.

And what does it feel like when the horse sees you and chooses to connect?

Happy. Excited. Loved.

Through this activity, the children practiced recognizing their emotions and noticing where they felt them in their bodies—important skills for emotional regulation and healing.

Even more importantly, they were invited into the truth at the heart of Zacchaeus’ story: God sees you. God knows you. And God loves you.

Because of you, these children are playing, learning, and healing this summer. You are helping them experience hope and discover truths they can carry long after camp ends.

Thank you for making moments like these possible.
