You Helped Her Find Joy Amidst Pain.

You know the tragic circumstances that surround many of the kids you support so generously here at Hope Reins.

And there’s a story I want to share with you about how you helped a little girl named Phoebe find joy amidst pain.

Attorney Patrick White was shot and killed by a client on
December 19, 2022 in Goldsboro. Gene Riddle, managing
partner of the firm where Patrick worked, says the father of
two and beloved husband to Reverend Molly Brock White,
sacrificed himself to save others by calling out the gunman’s
name and pushing him against the wall. The perpetrator shot
Patrick and turned the gun on himself. “He is our hero.
It’s the way he lived his entire life,” says Riddle.

A tragedy like this can take your breath away. It can make you feel powerless and discouraged. But you are here at this time for a reason.

You’re part of an amazing coalition of compassionate believers that provides comfort and safety to heartbroken kids like 11-year-old Phoebe, who lost her dad that day.

Hope Reins would not exist without you. As our foundational scripture, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, tells us, just as God comforts us in our troubles, we in turn should then take His strength and use it to bless others who are hurting.

And, your generosity has indeed blessed Phoebe and her family because wading through painful trauma alone can be overwhelming.

“Hope Reins has given Phoebe a safe place where she can open up and speak more
about her dad,” says Phoebe’s mom, Molly. “It’s a trusted, safe environment where she’s valued and affirmed. It’s such a gift.”

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping Phoebe heal alongside her very special horse named Joy.

Have a safe, wonderful Labor Day weekend.
