Kylie’s Story!

Horses can be intimidating.  They’re big and powerful. But Kylie  Slavin learned that the true strength of a horse is not found riding on his back but rather connecting on the ground with him – one-on-one.

“I was a bit apprehensive about volunteering with horses,” says Kylie. “But I’ve been amazed by the unconditional love they share with the kids.”

As a volunteer for Hope Reins’ mentorship program Bloom, Kylie spends purposeful time with teen girls struggling with crisis in their lives. Together, they may hike around the ranch, sit and talk under a shade tree, or hang out in pasture with a favorite horse. Just being present with one another allows for special moments of healing, says Kylie.

“Watching the girls honor and support each other is so inspiring. I think being around a horse reminds you of our connectedness. God does his best work as we just concentrate on building relationships with each other, not always being busy with the day’s agenda.”

Thank you, Kylie for your heart and time!
