Because of you, she is smiling again

I know this story all too well.

Alcohol can destroy safety and security in a family. It was my story. And in the middle of it, my refuge was a horse named Country.

Looking back, I see how God, in His providence, used that pain to bring comfort and healing—for me, and now for the children we serve at Hope Reins. And that is only possible because of people like you.

The Lord continues to step into stories like mine every single week at the ranch.

Recently, we met a new little girl. We’ll call her Lily.

When Lily first came to the ranch, she could barely step out from behind her mom. She would hide, letting her mom speak for her. Like so many of our kids, Lily had experienced the effects of alcohol in her home—and the result was deep, crippling anxiety.

Her mom wasn’t even sure Lily would be able to leave her side for sessions.

But then she met her mentor… and a gentle horse named Shiloh.

Something began to change.

Now, Lily runs to greet Shiloh. She asks to groom her and carefully braid her mane. She is beginning to trust. Beginning to connect. Beginning to feel safe.

Her mom recently shared, “She can’t wait to get to the ranch. I haven’t seen her this happy in years.”

In years.

Because of you, Lily is rediscovering joy.
Because of you, she is learning what peace feels like.
Because of you, her story is changing.
