Your Friend, Selah, Begins a New Chapter.

You’ve grown up with us.

And over the past 10 years, our herd has grown, too.  We’ve added many special ‘angels in horsehair’ – most of whom bear sad stories of neglect or abuse.

But thankfully, there’s always a story of rescue because of your support.

Selah is no different. If you’ve read the best-selling book, Joey, which chronicles Hope Reins’ humble beginnings 10 years ago, then you’re familiar with the beautiful Saddlebred named Selah.

She came to Hope Reins in 2014 with a broken spirit and a complete mistrust of anyone who attempted to touch her.

Selah had been saved from a terrible hoarding situation after being found locked inside a stall, where she’d stood alone knee-deep in muck without food or water.

But thankfully, you changed all that for her.  Because of your support, Selah’s trust in human beings was slowly rebuilt.  Kids facing crisis learned from her story that despite horrific circumstances, trust and love can be found again.

Unfortunately, for the past several years, Selah’s past traumatic experiences and her breed’s high-energy temperament have not allowed her to settle in peacefully and comfortably with a herd.  (Despite using herd management, training, supplements and  medication as a plan of action.)

The good news for Hope Reins, our kids and especially Selah, is that she moved this week to a beautiful, safe and loving farm owned by Pam Winters.  For those who aren’t familiar with Pam, she is a Hope Reins board member, session leader and equestrian  extraordinaire.

The farm is located in Creedmoor around the corner from Hope Reins. Pam has a passion to rescue and care for horses that have special needs and challenges (she even owns a zebra!).

She is very excited about Selah’s arrival – and obviously – I’ll be a regular visitor as well.

We are so incredibly grateful for those of you who have supported Selah in our program. She is a very special horse.

And, we are so grateful to Pam for giving Selah a new home that is the absolute best possible scenario for us all.
