Good Egg #6: Board Treasurer Mike Sisco
Mike is a faithful believer in Jesus Christ. So it’s really no surprise to anyone who knows him that most of his ‘seasoned’ time is spent generously helping others through ministries. Yes, that’s right, ministries, plural. “I knew I wanted to work in ministry,” after retiring from a 33-year career with IBM, says Mike. His ‘day job’ is working full-time for Anne Graham Lotz’s nonprofit called AnGel Ministries. “I get to do a little of everything, from security to special projects.” He also joined the board of directors at Hope Reins in 2016 and functions both as treasurer and chair of the finance committee.
What’s it like serving two ministries? “I feel blessed to serve both – doubly blessed!” says Mike. Perhaps his stint as a director of a boy’s club in Bridgeport, CT, embedded a passion for helping young kids. It started as a college internship and led to being director after graduating. “I loved it because I loved the kids,” he says.
Mike’s been married to his wife, Mary, for 34 years and together they have three girls and one granddaughter. When he and Mary became volunteer Listeners at the ranch in 2010, it rekindled his joy of serving children and families. “I’m always amazed to see how present God is in everything here.”
According to Hope Reins Board Chairman Allin Foulkrod, God had his hand in Mike not only becoming a board member but also assuming the helm for the ministry’s finances. “Mike and his team have made an incredible impact on the financial management at Hope Reins. His leadership is always intentional and wise,” says Allin. “The Lord brought Mike to our doorstep at the perfect time.”
