A Story Just Beginning

Before the weekend begins, I want to share a glimpse of what your generosity is already doing.

Last Saturday, the gates opened to welcome 41 new children to the ranch. Among them was a 15-year-old teenage boy named Daniel*, a gentle giant who stands 6’2” tall. It didn’t take long for him to gravitate toward Zeb, our tallest horse, a Mustang Belgian Cross with a steady and tender presence.

Daniel spent much of the morning leaning over the fence near Zeb’s paddock.

Like Zeb, who lost his eye due to health complications, Daniel has faced difficult health diagnoses of his own.

Daniel was adopted after a hard start in life. Zeb was rescued from an auction before serving with the Raleigh Police Department and eventually finding his forever home here at the ranch.

Two rescue stories, meeting quietly at the fence line.

Zeb may be the biggest horse at the ranch, but more than just big, he is also gentle and capable. Daniel sees some of his own story in Zeb. He feels known. He already feels safe.

And safety is where trust begins — the first step toward healing.

Moments like this happen because of your generosity.

Because of you, 41 new children are stepping onto safe ground this season. And 175 returning children are continuing their journey toward hope and healing.

Thank you for opening the gates.

Thank you for being a part of stories like Daniel’s.

Thank you for standing with these children as their healing begins.
